Apple iPad Opinion.
I saw part of the presentation of the Apple iPad yesterday with the rest of the world. And what I saw was a giant iPhone without the phone added in.
It is absolutely beautiful with its design and simplistic concept of having a terrific Internet experience, movie & music experience, and how you can view pictures and send email!
I even love the way you will be able to use iWorks so you can do simple office task on the iPad like word processing, spreadsheets and keynote presentations. Simply wonderful!
BUT!….. You could feel the but coming couldn’t you???
It’s going to either FLOP! Or…. Just not do as well for Apple as they think it will…
Ok… So people think the iPad will kill the Amazon Kindle… Umm…. NO….
The kindle is far superior for reading books because it was design to read books… Not the internet.
Amazon Kindle has a Electronic Paper Display. iPad does not…
Why is that so important? First, your eyes get strained by looking at a backlight display all day. So reading off the iPad, even though you can do it, will not be nearly as enjoyable as reading from an actual book!
“Ok.. Jeff… Ummm… Your comparing it to the Kindle… not a book… Helloooooo…..”
Ya, I know… But you see, 8 out of 10 people who own a Kindle prefer and enjoy reading from their Kindle then they do reading from an actual book!
That makes the Kindle better then books and thus better then the iPad for serious readers.

So… But people are not buying the iPad for the book reading… They are buying it for everything else.
All the Apps…
Well, if it was a actual computer with OS X and not the iPhone OS X you would be able to run the preferred MS Office for Mac. But ya can’t.
Also…
And this is my biggest pet peeve and why I will not buy one….
FLASH!!!
It’s OK that my iPhone does not play flash, even though it should… I still use my phone and it plays YouTube and Email, well, everything that the iPhone is Awsome for!
BUT!
If I’m going to shill out money for the iPad, it needs to be a better web surfing experience then the iPhone. And it simply just isn’t so.
Ok. The Screen is big and the surfing experience is nicer on a big screen. BUT>>>
That is not the whole web experience!
Most websites have some kind of flash videos on them that are not on YouTube!
Like the NY TIMES!!!!
Did you see the presentation??? I mean, Jobs totally got choked up when he saw the NY Times site and there was that little Icon with a ton of Blank Space around it!
Yep, that was supposed to be a video for your “web experience” that you did not experience because the iPad does not play flash!
Ok Apple, if you want your product to sell, you must play nice with Adobe and get some flash support for your iPad and iPhone!
At the very least you iPad!
You will lose sells Apple, and you will hurt all because of the stubbornness to not have flash… That’s my opinion… And I love Apple, Inc. I’m typing this on my 24 inch iMac.
So, the verdict?
I don’t know, will people care that they can’t watch the videos their friends send links for them to watch? Probably…
I know I will.
Is this a “Amazon Kindle Killer!”?
Absolutely not…
Is it a great internet experience?
In my opinion, heck no… Not without Flash support… It’s not the “Full Internet”.

I think your opinion is on point. I expect the ipad to deliver the same or more than my laptop. I had my doubts, but you really open my eyes wider!
