If you offer your visitors something like a “Free Report” on what you should look out for when hiring a contractor, and the top ten questions to ask a contractor, and if you get these answers run… type of report… See, the report is non threatening… And your educating your prospects about who is a good contractor and who is not based on some screening questions the prospect can do on their own…
It empowers them to be a smarter and educated consumer, and you gave it to them for free… Well, for their name & email address at least… And after they read the report, they will feel more comfortable hiring a contractor, and because you gave them information on how to hire “anyone” their going to see that as you guys caring about them regardless if they use you or not…
This is called using the law of reciprocity… They feel like they can hire anyone now…
But who do they know?
Who gave them the report?
Who cared about them enough to educate them without selling them on their services? You Did! So their going to use you..

Plus, how many times do you need to make contact with a prospect before they buy?
7-9 times?
When they go to your site, thats just one… They probably will not return… 99.9% of the time… But! If they have a reason to give you their name and email, like the FREE REPORT, that gives you an opportunity to send them 6-8 more “educational” and I mean educational, not sales pitchy, reports that will boost their confidence in hiring a contractor… Since you are now the COOLEST contractor in the industry, they will defiantly use you when they need a job done… (By the way, your cool because of the free education you give them… nothing else makes you cool… most people don’t know that… just like how I’m trying to increase my cool status with you right now…)
So… Whats another good reason to have a email list with a auto responder?
You will be building your email list of prospects who are “Thinking About It!” Most people who visit your site are just TIRE KICKERS. You get their email address, you will be giving them information throughout the year until they are ready to buy…
Now you got true FRONT OF MIND AWARENESS… Because your in their email box throughout the year, and they want you there because you give them good information… “Getting Your Name Out There” or “Front Of Mind Awareness” by just chanting your slogan and company name over and over again is the old way to do it…
The new way is to be extremely cool to your prospects by giving them information they can can actually use and get results from without you selling them… And the only way you can do this on a mass scale is through having a email list which you build via a auto responder and a bribe for their name and email… i.e. the Free “Gives You Credibility” Report…
